Evelyn McKee being presented with the Claonadh Award 2015 by Des Drumm, Chairman, Clane Community Council

On Sunday December 6th there was a great turn out for the switch-on of the Abbey Christmas Lights. Following some delicious punch and mince pies generously donated by Doolan’s – Londis, the people of Clane were treated to a beautiful selection of carols sung by Clane Parish Choir.

Des Drumm, Chairman of Clane Community Council then said a few words, and presented the Claonadh Award 2015 to this year’s recipient: Evelyn McKee, the driving force behind the Little Way.

Everyone then headed outside for the big countdown. Our Guest of Honour Evelyn lit up our wonderful new Christmas Tree – donated by Nellie Dillon-Forde – while the big countdown triggered the lights on the Abbey tower. Big thanks too to our “Chief Engineer” John Power for designing and donating a most impressive frame to raise and hold the tree.

Christmas Light switch on 2015

Clane Community Council would like to thank everyone who contributed to the community of Clane in 2015. We hope the Abbey lights help brighten your evenings in the coming weeks. We wish you and yours a safe and happy Christmas.
