Donadea Forest Park is a 640 acre site located 9km north of Clane, and is signposted off the R407 Clane / Kilcock Road.
The site of the 17th Century Aylmer castle, Caroline Aylmer died in 1935. The evocative ruins of the castle with its lake, ice-house and St. Peter’s church all grace the park still. The park also includes a coffee shop, picnic areas, both deciduous and coniferous woodland and miles of accessible trails.
The park is managed by Coillte, in association with the local community. Details of the park facilities and some of the many walks are described here. It is worth noting that the car park is only open during certain hours, and there may be an entry fee charged, so best double-check the details before setting out.
