Loughanure Area Text Alert Scheme Meeting

Clane Community Council is assisting people in Loughanure, Butterstream, Firmount and Ballinagappa to establish a Text Alert scheme for the area. We expect that we will finally have the above scheme set up and running by end of October 2017. A meeting is now arranged  to inform you of the mechanics of the system and to accept late entries to the scheme. We will also be able to share the experience of other groups already in motion in the area.

We have ordered 7 Text Alert signs to be erected in locations advised by An Garda Siochana and Kildare County Council.

The Text Alert initiative is organised by Muintir na Tire, and supported by an Garda Siochana, and has been highly successful in combatting crime and in such other ways as finding missing persons, missing animals, and saving health and lives of vulnerable members of the communities. The effectiveness of Text Alert has proven to discourage undesirable activity and communities feel safer in their homes.

The meeting is being held in The Abbey, Clane at 8pm on Thursday October 19th.

 

 

 

Text Alert & Neighbourhood Watch – Public Meeting April 22nd

The ClaneWatch sub-committee of Clane Community Council has organised an information meeting for residents’ associations, rural homeowners and all other interested people in Clane to introduce the topics of Text Alert and Neighbourhood Watch and how they might be set up for the area. Key speakers on the night will be An Garda Síochána, Muintir na Tíre and TASK Community Care.

Muintir na Tíre and An Garda Síochána will discuss a texting scheme that is suited to communities the size of Clane. TASK Community Care will speak about their emergency equipment for the elderly or vulnerable residents.

The meeting will be held in the Westgrove Hotel on Monday 22nd April at 8pm. All residents of Clane are invited to come along to see how they might benefit from these schemes.
